SRS Round 2 - Clanfield

1:16 pm Race Reports, SRS, Snaps

It was the 2nd round of SRS and 4th round of the summer series. Upon arrival the first change I noticed straight away was the new jump which had been created where the old tabletop used to be and WOW it had some profile on it. During drivers briefing Tony B had informed us that the track had already had over 250 drivers on it in the last 21 days due to holding the two national events but the track looked ok.

It was a fairly good turn out what with it being Euros weekend, 28 truggies and 32 buggies. There were 4 rounds of qualifying with your best two scores to count. Jon Wolfe (XRay) took TQ in the Buggies while Clanfields own Simon Freeman (Losi) took the TQ in the Truggy class.

There was going to be an A, B and C final in both Buggy and Truggy with all the B and C finals being 20 mins and both A finals 30 Mins. With 4 drivers bumping up in each final there was plenty to race for.

The C final Truggies saw Darren Johnson taking the win and Stuart Clark, Ron Turner and Harry Hawes getting bumped up.

The B final Truggies saw Damien Tutton taking the win and Darren Johnson, Chris Burn and John Clarke getting bumped up.

A final Truggies saw Russell Bailey lead from start to finish taking a win with over a lap to spare, TQ man Simon was plagued with problems leaving him a sadly 9th place. The top 3 in the Truggies were:

1: Russell Bailey 40/30m 15.05
2: Jez Blaber 39/30m 19.54
3: Mark Bailey 39/30m 32.25

The C final Buggies saw Kevin Brown taking the win with Ben Chanderler, Jose Jimenez and Grim Blackmoregetting bumped.

The B final saw Jim Eddins winning and Mark McDonnell, Glen Blunden and Mark Bailey all getting bumped.

The A final saw Mike Waller, Jon Wolfe and Tony Bolwell battling it out for the top three until Tony pulled out after a few to many engine cuts. All the time Janos Nagy drove a steady race to climb into 3rd where he would finish. Top 3 in the buggies:

1: Mike Waller 41/30m 37.08
2: Jon Wolfe 39/30m 25.82
3: Janos Nagy 39/30m 34.42
