Novarossi Raceway were pleased to announce recently that their long awaited Dirt Track was finally completed! All that was needed was a bit of rain to make sure it was in top condition. The rain indeed came. However it did not stop throughout the week so unfortunately the track was too wet and it was decided that the meeting was best run on the Astro Track, to some people’s disappointment. However, their spirits were lifted when it was announced that the Dirt Track would be open at the end of the day!
Glen Lindsey managed to TQ and win the truggy class with a result of 32/20m 28.92 followed by Nigel Ellis with a result of 28/20m 41.36 and in 3rd Chris Fuller with 27/19m 53.69. David Spashett took TQ in the buggy class and after a great start he never looked back and led for the whole race. He managed to get 34/20m 19.64 a whole 3 laps infront of 2nd Darren Hayden-Ball with 31/20m 19.00 who finished a lap infront of 3rd place Pete Stevens 30/20m 17.68.
The Dirt Track certainly did not disappoint. The track is run in an anti-clockwise direction and the jumps are similar in style to those of DXR. It flowed very well and every one seemed to love it. Comments were made such as “wow” and “cool”. It was so good a couple of drivers even risked run aways going out on battery packs that had done 2 or 3 finals!
